Thorsten Wirkes is the Managing Director of BHI and a lifelong builder with deep healthcare roots. After launching a venture in college, he began his career at McKinsey & Company, advising pharmaceutical and payer clients on growth and operational strategy. He later joined the early team at Oscar Health, helping reimagine how payers operate. At Oscar, he first led Insurance Operations before spearheading the development of payer–provider joint ventures across ACA and Medicare Advantage markets. After serving as COO at Covera Health, he joined Bertelsmann to build and scale its healthcare investment arm. His background as an operator, strategist, and investor shapes his approach to partnering with founders transforming the industry. Thorsten holds degrees from WHU and Columbia University.

Tim is a founding partner of BHI, initially launching and growing the firm’s European office in Berlin. He has a non-linear path into healthcare, with an engineering degree and a background in finance, having started his career in PwC’s global PE deals practice. Tim is both a strong ally and an honest critic when needed. Either way, you’ll always know where you stand.

Max is an Investor at BHI, based in Europe. Max leads investments across Europe, with a focus on DACH, the Nordics, and the UK. Before joining BHI, he gained experience in early-/growth-stage and private equity investing at Creandum, Activant Capital and IK Partners. He holds a Double Master's Degree from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland and Esade in Barcelona.

Agnes is an Operating Partner in BHI's European office, with nearly 20 years of experience as an operator and advisor for hospitals across Europe. Previously, she was part of the management at BFS health finance, a leading healthcare finance company. Agnes holds a Law degree from Germany and an LL.M. from the University of Auckland.
